Lawn Turf Dublin - Delivery Information

Fresh Lawn Turf and Roll Out Grass Delivered Across Dublin

Whether you are landscaping a new build in Swords, refreshing a family garden in Tallaght, or laying a lawn for a corporate space in Dublin 2, Emerald Lawns delivers fresh lawn turf and roll out grass throughout Dublin — from the city centre to South Dublin, Fingal, and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.

All lawn turf Dublin orders are grown on our own farm in Co. Derry and cut to order. Unlike garden centres where turf may sit on a pallet for days, our grass is harvested fresh and delivered to your Dublin address — so you receive it vibrant and ready to root. Most Dublin gardens require between 30 and 80 square metres; we can supply any quantity, from a small front garden to a full housing development.

Lawn Turf Dublin Delivery Information

We deliver to all Dublin postcodes — D1 through D24 — and throughout South Dublin, Fingal, and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, including Malahide, Blanchardstown, Castleknock, Lucan, Blackrock, Dundrum, Swords, Bray, and Dun Laoghaire.

  • Date selection: Choose your preferred delivery date when placing your order online. Order by 1pm Mon-Thurs to get next day delivery.
  • Delivery time: We cannot specify a time of delivery — our turf is collected from the farm and dispatched via next-day courier, which may arrive in the evening. If you plan to lay first thing in the morning, order for the day before. To request an estimated arrival time, reply to your order confirmation email on the morning of the scheduled delivery date.
  • Delivery vehicle: A heavy goods lorry with a tail lift and manual pallet truck.
  • Off-loading surface: The pallet truck requires a smooth, solid, level surface to operate. It will not work on gravel. If your driveway is gravel or uneven, your turf will be left at the kerbside.
  • Placement: The driver will off-load to the nearest suitable, safe point to your address as assessed on arrival.

Choosing Your Emerald Lawns Turf

We offer three grades of cultivated lawn turf for Dublin delivery:

Emerald Elite — Our best-selling grade. A harder-wearing, lower-maintenance turf supplied virtually free from broad-leaved weeds and coarse grass weeds. Closer-mown with a denser sward and lighter rolls. The grade we recommend for most Dublin homeowners — front gardens, family lawns, or anywhere quality and ease of maintenance matter.

Emerald Standard — A durable regular blend of grasses providing a good-quality sward for everyday use. Requires standard year-round lawn maintenance. A solid choice for most domestic Dublin gardens.

Emerald Budget — Good value where budget is the priority. Quality is variable but provides an instant green result. Minimum order 51 square metres — best suited to larger projects such as new-build developments across Fingal and South Dublin.

Soil Conditions Across Dublin

Dublin gardens are built on a diverse range of soil types. Many areas of South Dublin and the older suburbs sit on heavier clay soils that retain moisture well but can become compacted and poorly drained. In contrast, coastal areas such as Malahide, Howth and parts of North County Dublin often have lighter, sandier soils that drain freely but dry out more quickly during warm weather.

New-build developments across Fingal, South Dublin and Kildare commuter areas frequently present another challenge — heavily compacted ground left behind by construction activity. Proper soil preparation is essential before laying any new lawn.

What this means for your new lawn:

  • Heavy clay soils benefit from cultivation and the incorporation of sharp sand or organic matter to improve drainage.
  • New-build sites often require additional screened topsoil and removal of buried rubble.
  • Lighter sandy soils benefit from organic matter and regular watering during establishment.

Dublin's Climate and Laying Lawn Turf

Dublin generally experiences lower annual rainfall than many other parts of Ireland, particularly compared with the west and north-west. While this makes lawn installation easier during wetter months, newly laid turf may require more frequent watering during dry spring and summer periods.

Spring and autumn are often considered ideal times to lay turf in Dublin. However, quality cultivated turf can be laid throughout the year provided the ground is not frozen or waterlogged.

Over 35 Years Supplying Quality Turf Across Ireland

Emerald Lawns has been growing and supplying quality lawn turf since 1988. For more than 35 years, we have supplied homeowners, landscapers, sports facilities, golf courses and commercial developments throughout Ireland.

From small family gardens in Dublin suburbs to large-scale landscaping projects across the capital, our turf has been used in thousands of successful installations.

Supporting Dublin's Growing Communities

With significant housing expansion across Fingal and South Dublin — in areas like Donabate, Lusk, and Church Fields — hundreds of homeowners in new developments are looking for lawn turf they can rely on. Our turf is grown on light, stone-free soil, making it well suited to the varied ground conditions found across new-build Dublin sites.

For commercial and corporate projects, we regularly supply business parks and office developments across Dublin 12 (Park West), Dublin 18 (Sandyford, Leopardstown), and Dublin 22 and 24 (Citywest, Tallaght). We have also supplied professional-grade turf to landmark venues including Lansdowne Road and the K Club in Straffan, Co. Kildare.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Emerald Lawns deliver lawn turf to Dublin?
Yes — we deliver fresh lawn turf / roll out grass throughout Dublin, including all Dublin postcodes (D1–D24), South Dublin, Fingal, and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.

Can I choose my delivery date?
Yes — you can select from available dates when placing your order online. Please note we cannot specify a delivery time, as turf is dispatched via next-day courier and may arrive in the evening. If you plan to lay your turf early in the morning, order for the day before. To request an estimated arrival time, reply to your order confirmation email on the morning of your scheduled delivery date.

How much does turf delivery to Dublin cost?
Delivery charges depend on your location and order size. Select Dublin at checkout and your full delivered price — including VAT and delivery — is calculated instantly. See our buy lawn turf page for a quote and to order.

What time of year can I lay turf in Dublin?
Turf can be laid at any time of year. In summer, pay extra attention to watering as the turf dries out more quickly. In winter, root growth is slower and you will need to wait a little longer before using your new lawn — but there is less risk of the turf drying out.

How soon should I lay my turf after delivery?
Turf is harvested fresh to order and should be laid as soon as possible after delivery, particularly during warm or windy weather. If you cannot lay it immediately, unroll the turf on a temporary area and keep it adequately watered until installation.

How much turf do I need for my Dublin garden?
The amount of turf required depends on the size and shape of the area being landscaped. Our online Lawn Calculator allows you to enter measurements for multiple lawn areas and automatically calculates the quantity required, including an allowance for cutting and shaping.

Do I need to prepare the soil before laying turf?
Yes. Proper soil preparation is essential for a successful lawn. The area should be cleared of weeds and debris, cultivated to relieve compaction, levelled, and lightly firmed before laying turf. For detailed guidance, see our How to Create a Perfect Lawn guide.

Which turf is best for most Dublin gardens?
For most domestic lawns, we recommend Emerald Elite. It provides a dense, hard-wearing, lower-maintenance lawn that performs well in family gardens and front lawns. Emerald Standard is a popular choice for everyday use, while Emerald Budget is best suited to larger projects where cost is the primary consideration.

Can turf be laid on a new-build site?
Yes. New-build sites often require additional ground preparation before turf is laid. Construction activity can leave soil heavily compacted and may result in buried rubble beneath the surface. Cultivating the ground thoroughly and adding quality topsoil where necessary will help ensure successful establishment.

How often should I water newly laid turf?
Newly laid turf should be watered thoroughly immediately after installation and kept consistently moist until it has rooted into the soil below. During warm or dry weather, more frequent watering may be required. The aim is to ensure moisture penetrates through the turf and into the underlying soil.
