As a general guide, a minimum of 150mm (6 inches) of quality topsoil is recommended before laying turf.
• Lighter, free-draining soils: These soils generally offer good drainage but may dry out more quickly during warm weather. Paying close attention to watering during the establishment period will help ensure strong rooting.
